Meta is urged to combat human and drug trafficking on Facebook and WhatsApp
At least six US senators wrote a request to the Meta CEO Mark Zuckerbergto ask you to prevent your platforms, such as Facebook and WhatsAppare used to facilitate the trafficking of drugs and people.
“The open advertising of human smuggling and drug trafficking services and the prevalence of misinformation about the United States immigration system in Facebook they contribute to transnational crime in the region and to the challenges the United States experiences on its border with Mexico,” the lawmakers state in the request.

“It is imperative that Goal take seriously the emerging roles of Facebook and WhatsApp as tools used to support” illicit operations in developing countries, but which “also significantly and adversely affect the national interests of the United States.”
