sAccording to the organization, in a statement, the third edition of this festival, which runs until May 14, will have representations of companies such as Teatro Praga and LAMA Teatro (which organizes it), as well as musicians such as B Fachada and Noiserv.

Mochila takes place this year in three cities in the Algarve, after Faro hosted the first two editions.

The program includes theater shows, music, a new circus and installations, some outdoors, in various cultural spaces in Faro, Lagos and Loulé, in a total of 17 artistic proposals dedicated to children and young people, ten of which are free.

According to the note, the festival “reinforces its international dimension”, with three performances by foreign artists and companies.

This year’s edition of Mochila opens with “On Air”, by the Italian Andrea Fidelio, a ‘one man show’ that the organization ensures is “filled with humor and aimed at all ages”, with open-air presentations in Faro and Ilha da Culatra (fishing community in a parish that also belongs to the Algarve capital).

The international representation continues with two shows by Spanish companies, also presented outdoors: “A La Fresca”, by the Anna Confetti Company, aimed at over 6 years old, and “Full House”, by Tram 28, for all ages.

The program also includes several Portuguese artists and theater companies, such as Teatro Praga (with the show “Hamlet sou eu”), Teatromosca (with “I hate my sister”), Giacomo Scalisi (with “No”), Mákina de Cena (with with “Journey to the center of the earth”) and LAMA Teatro (with “Carripana” and three shows presented in national premiere).

As for music, there will be a concert for children by B Fachada in Loulé, the concert Mais Alto!, created by musicians Afonso Cabral, Francisca Cortesão, Inês Sousa and Sérgio Nascimento, presented in Faro, and also a sound installation for all the ages, conceived by the musician Noiserv for the public space, in Faro, in the Alameda garden.

Mochila will also have, in several streets of the city of Faro, small performances developed by the ‘gang’ of Mochilas, throughout the period in which the festival takes place, in a project that involves young people of school age.

According to the organization, with the aim of promoting dialogue around various issues involving young people, the 2023 edition of the festival also promotes the debate “If you were the one to send what would you change… at school?” participation by Inês Rosa, Nádia Torres, Joana Franco, Luís Campião and Teresa Aleixo and moderation by João de Brito.

The Mochila Festival has been held since 2021 and its main objectives are “the promotion of the decentralization of the cultural offer, the democratization of access to a quality multidisciplinary artistic program, developed by renowned national and international companies and artists; and the training of the public and communities for the development of critical thinking about the contemporary world”.
