The town hall still has many vacancies – although the proportion of orphaned posts has recently fallen. This shows the answer of the city administration to a small request from the CDU parliamentary group leader Matthias Finken. According to this, 238 positions were vacant across the administration at the end of November, which corresponds to a filling rate of 87 percent. At the end of 2021, this rate was 83.4 percent, according to the responsible main office.

However, obviously not every position will be filled very quickly. According to the town hall, there are currently 43 positions advertised and the selection process for 25 positions. For 50 positions, the “organizational description and evaluation process” is in progress before an advertisement, it said. For more than a hundred vacancies, no information is given as to when these will be filled. The city administration is struggling, among other things, with the consequences of the shortage of skilled workers and demographic change.
