Sports writing, Apr 9 (EFE).- The Tunisian Ons Jabeur, second favourite, fulfilled her revenge against the current champion, the Swiss Belinda Bencic, and won the Charleston tournament that she lost last season in the final against the Swiss tennis player.

For the second year in a row, the final game for the title was repeated in Charleston. But this time the winner was another. Javeur won 7-6(6) and 6-4 in two hours of play.

This Sunday was an intense day due to the rain that fell on Saturday that prevented the scheduled matches from being played. Bencic had to complete her duel against the American Jesica Pegula to seal the pass to the final that Jabeur had achieved hours before against Daria Kasatkina.

Jabeur’s triumph unbalances the particular duels against Bencic, so far with a distribution of victories in the four previous clashes, two for each.

The Tunisian raised her list of merits to four, the first so far in 2023. The fifth player in the world, who played the eleventh final of her career in Charleston, adds her new trophy to those of Barlín and Madrid in 2022 together with that of Birmingham in 2021.
