After I liked the laptop backpack from Ority so much, I was also allowed to try the small Switch bag. Ority Ace is a compact shoulder bag designed to accommodate the Nintendo Switch and smartphone. In contrast to the simple notebook backpack, I was able to test a new, colorful edition of the Ority Ace, which definitely attracts a few looks.

Ority x Rocket Beans TV is brightly colored

Ority delivers exactly what it promises with the design. Does it say Rocket Beans? So Rocket Beans is in there too. The bag itself, which feels premium as usual from Ority, is bright red, while the padding and zipper are black. The most striking thing, however, is the front pocket, which features all sorts of Rocket Beans logos and mascots.

The wonderfully gaudy bag here from the front. It holds just over two liters.

Doesn’t the design also remind you of a school project where you have to make a poster out of different newspaper clippings on a certain topic? You might already notice that I’m not quite the type for such overloaded and motley collages, especially when it looks kind of out of place on almost every jacket I wear. Just a matter of taste.

However, fans of Rocket Beans TV should be happy about the abundance of familiar faces, ghosts, lettering, beans and stinky fingers. The beauty of this is that the print varies from bag to bag, so you can get your very own copy. It’s also cool that the bag is made from recycled PET bottles and is water-repellent. However, you shouldn’t walk through the pouring rain with it – at most quickly from the front door to the car.

Not an elegant solution for the Switch

I love the idea of a shoulder bag for the Nintendo Switch. Quickly stuffed the switch in and off you go. Unfortunately, I am also very meticulous when it comes to protecting my PCs and consoles, and this is exactly where the Ority Ace offers too little. Inside the bag there is a large compartment, which according to the label is intended for the switch, and four small pockets for games or similar small, narrow items. The charging cable does not have its own compartment, it must be placed loosely on top.

This is how the placement of the compartments looks like. Apart from the games, I didn’t find anything that fit really well into the four small compartments.

But what really bothers me is that the exemplary padded switch compartment is too flat for my taste. After all, the Joycons should also be accommodated there.

It’s tighter, especially at the bottom of the bag, near the seam. The thumbstick could possibly be pushed around or pressed in here. And what is Ms. Cautious to do here now? Put the switch and case in your pocket? Remove the bottom stick and let the charging cable fly somewhere through the bag? Everything is not ideal. Still, I’ve taken my Switch on a couple of small trips by car or visits on foot with no damage.

I’m missing a good reason

What is also missing is the space for the switch’s thick charging cable. If you really only want to take the Ority Ace with you, you have to put it loosely in your bag or use alternatives. Space is really tight there. A small zip pocket on the back of the Ority Ace is perfect for a smartphone or small tablet. It all works somehow, but the concept doesn’t really make me happy.

So the switch fits in, also in the compartment provided, but there really isn’t much space left. Here I put the switch on top of the compartment.

The question that gnaws at me the most is why I should buy this bag for just under 40 euros when I already have a protective cover for the Switch. What great benefit does Ority’s Ace offer me if I don’t even have space for important everyday items, such as glasses or a wallet. Hardly any situation comes to my mind where I don’t just grab a small backpack and put my switch in the hard case there – together with sweets for the game night or snacks and drinks for the train journey. None of this works with Ority’s solution.

The flexible way of carrying that Ority offers here is good for this. Of course you can wear the shoulder bag on the front and back, but the shoulder strap can also be adjusted. You can attach it to the underside in the middle, on the left or on the right. No matter how I’ve placed it on my shoulder and back, so far I’ve always found Ority’s Switch tote to be very comfortable.

You can buy the colorful model only in the official Rocket Beans shop. All other simple designs can be found as usual ority.

Ority Ace Rocket Beans Edition in the test – conclusion

I really want to like this bag, but the concept, the size, the layout just don’t appeal to me personally. Unfortunately, I don’t quite see why I should use this bag, especially when I use a hard case that is cheaper anyway and any other bag is an option. But the design of the bag wants exactly that – to be a cool option for everyday life, with which you can show your fan love for the Rocket Beans at the same time. One can argue about the wildly bright colors, there is nothing to complain about the quality.
