Through this generally disappointing year 2022 at Xbox, Obsidian Entertainment was one of the only Xbox studios to offer new quality projects this year with Grounded released in 1.0, but also the nice surprise of the end of the year: Pentiment. Josh Sawyer’s nugget has surprised many players in more than one respect and the game’s soundtrack has something to do with it.

A deluxe treatment for the Pentiment soundtrack

Released on Tuesday, November 15 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC landing directly on Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming, Pentiment is a narrative role-playing adventure set in the 16th century Bavaria. The title produced by Obsidian and directed by Josh Sawyer surprised by the quality of its story as well as the beauty and uniqueness of its artistic direction.

Equally impressive is the work done by the Alkemie group on the soundtrack. This group recognized in the composition of medieval music has achieved a tour de force on the soundtrack of Pentiment by making us travel in the universe of the game.

As for the artwork of the soundtrack, it was the painter Benjamin Vierling who composed this work for nearly 2 years, drawing inspiration from the techniques and works of the Renaissance.

You can therefore find the 37 tracks of the Pentiment soundtrack right now on Spotify, AppleMusic or Youtube. Also note that a double vinyl album will be released in 2023. This edition will feature a unique gatefold as well as a painting of Our Lady of the Labyrinth by Pentiment’s artistic director, Hannah Kennedy.
