If Roblox did better than Activision in 2021, the year that has just ended was the backdrop to an even greater success, if we will, for the creative sandbox of The Sandbox Corporation, thanks to the over 200 million global downloads in 2022.

According to data acquired by Finbold and shared on January 31 with an infographic listing the biggest blockbusters of the digital entertainment industry, in 2022 Roblox had a total of 208 million downloads. An incredible result to say the least which, however, is not enough for the Metaverse signed by Roblox Corporation to conquer the top of the ranking of the most downloaded video game apps on iOS and Android mobile devices.

Indeed, the undisputed King of the mobile market in 2022 was Subway Surfer (304 million downloads), followed by Stumble Guys (254 million) and by the same Roblox. The ranking drawn up by Finbold is completed with the fourth place of candy Crush Saga (138 million) and the fifth place occupied by Race Master 3D (128 million). Further back we find 8 Ball Pool (120 million), FIFA Mobile (111 million), Merge & Fight (110 million), Garena Free Fire (109 million) and Bridge Race (107 million downloads).

The more than 200 million users who have downloaded Roblox have helped generate global revenue for over $861 million. According to Finbold’s research, Roblox’s growth would be linked to factors such as the constant renewal of the platform’s offer, the numerous social aspects of the Metaverse and the business opportunities offered by the app during the pandemic. Finbold therefore believes that Roblox has further room for growth, especially in relation to the opportunities offered by new technologies and the Metaverse.
