Andreas Rudigier, director of the vorarlberg museum, is leaving his position after twelve years to take over the management of the Tyrolean state museums.

Andreas Rudigier, the current director of the vorarlberg museum, will resign after twelve years on December 1, 2023 to take over the management of the Tyrolean State Museums.

Rudigier, a 58-year-old lawyer and art historian, has headed the vorarlberg museum since April 2011. His term of office began parallel to the renovation and expansion phase of the house. Under his direction, the museum developed into a meeting place that includes current and historical topics. The work of the museum has gained recognition in German-speaking countries in recent years. “I am convinced that a successor can build on a well-ordered house and, above all, on a strong team,” says the outgoing director.

New role in Tyrol

In his new position, Rudigier will have to face similar tasks, as the Ferdinandeum is also about to be renovated. Despite the challenges, he is positive about his new role. The Tyrolean State Museums have five locations, including the Ferdinandeum, the Arsenal and the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum with the Hofkirche and the Tyrol Panorama with the Kaiserjägermuseum.

Werner Döring, Managing Director of the Vorarlberger Kulturhäusergesellschaft, regrets the “somewhat premature departure of our highly valued director Andreas Rudigier”. He has opened the house in an exemplary manner over the past 12 years.
