Korean tech giant Samsung will once again sell notebooks in the country, which will be manufactured at the Mirgor plant, located in Garín, Buenos Aires province, with some imported components.
The firm born in South Korea will launch three specific models:
- Galaxy Book3
- Galaxy Book3 PRO
- Galaxy 360
Samsung will sell notebooks made in Argentina
From the company, they advanced that the equipment will be destined for internal consumption and not for exports, until now. Producing in the country “contributes to job creation and bringing technology to the country,” said the director of Product Mobile Experience and Business Intelligence Samsung Argentina, Mariano Dascanio.
Regarding economic instability, which includes obstacles to imports and access to foreign currency, the firm indicated that they “seek opportunities in adverse contexts.” And they added: “Our competitors are not producing here. Some never will and others are thinking about it, but, between thinking about it and doing it, you can lose eight months of positioning”.
Along these lines, referring to the objectives of the company in the country, the managers explained that aim to achieve a market share of 40% of the B2C segment (final consumer) or 20% if everything imported into the country is taken. Considering 2022, this would be equivalent to 40,000 units sold.
Notebooks will be added to the tablets and cell phones that Samsung manufactures in Argentina from July.
“Today it is cheaper to buy a cell phone here than abroad. And, if at a 10% lower price you add financing, local guarantee and service, the same will happen with notebooks. They are going to buy here and not abroad, because the one who buys abroad does not find it here,” concluded Dascanio.
At what prices will Samsung notebooks be sold in Argentina?
“On average, they will cost between $500,000 and $600,000 depending on the case”said Samsung Argentina’s Mobile Experience Business Director, Rodolfo Javier Romeo, in dialogue with the press, adding that the devices will begin to be launched in the second half of July.
The last time Samsung decided to produce these devices in the country It was between 2010 and 2013. Now it will resume the strategy, which is added to the manufacture and distribution of cell phones, tablets, washing machines and refrigerators.
