7. amsterdam
Written and directed by David O. Russell (The good side of life), amsterdam is one of the most talked about films of 2022. The plot is set in the 1930s and tells the story of three close friends: two soldiers and a nurse who have made a pact to always protect themselves.
When they meet again, years later, they end up witnessing a murder and becoming the main suspects in the crime. To try to prove their innocence, however, the trio has a group of allies, but the task will not be as simple as they think.
With a weight cast that includes Christian Bale, John David Washington, Margot Robbie, Zoe Saldaña, Chris Rock, Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Anya Taylor-Joy and even Taylor Swift, the film divided opinions from the public and the specialized critic. But it is certainly a work that deserves a chance.
6. Death on the Nile
Based on the book of the same name by Agatha Christie, Death on the Nile tells the story of Linnet Ridgeway (Gal Gadot) and Simon Doyle (Armie Hammer), a couple who are traveling on their honeymoon along the Nile River. To celebrate this union, they invited their dearest friends and relatives on the Karvak boat. Everything was going well, but the bride mysteriously dies, and the worst part is that everyone had a reason to kill her.
Thus begins a story of mystery and investigation that has the detective Hercules Poirot investigating not only the death of the young woman but also the entire network of jealousy and envy that involves those present.
5. The Predator: The Hunt
Blending action, mystery and science fiction, The Predator: The Hunt follows Naru, a highly skilled young warrior desperate to protect her people, the Comanche Nation, from imminent danger.
One day, armed only with a primitive weapon, she encounters a highly evolved alien predator and the two end up engaging in a brutal and terrifying battle. Now, Naru will have to fight with all her determination if she wants to get out of this fight alive.
The feature was scripted by Jim Thomas and Dan Trachtenberg, and also directed by Dan. The cast featured Amber Midthunder, Michelle Thrush and Julian Black Antelope.
4. No way out
No way out is a thriller that tells the story of Darby (Havana Rose Liu), a college student who finds herself stranded at a roadside rest stop after a heavy snowfall. It turns out that she is not alone: there are still four unknown people in the place.
Distressed by the situation, all Darby has to do is wait for the weather to improve to leave, but things get out of hand when she finds a kidnapped child in a van in the local parking lot and needs to figure out who to trust to get out of this situation.
The film was directed by Damien Power and written by Andrew Barrer. The cast includes Danny Ramirez, David Rysdahl and Dennis Haysbert.
3. The Matriarch
Leaving suspense and moving towards terror, this film written and directed by Ben Steiner tells the story of a woman who, after surviving an overdose and acquiring a mysterious illness, decides to return to her mother’s house, where she was raised.
Arriving at the scene, she finds a real demonic entity and needs to deal with her worst nightmares to make it out alive.
The Matriarch it was directed by Ben Steiner and stars Jemima Rooper, Kate Sickie, Nick Haverson and horror veteran Sarah Paul.

Starring Chay Suede and Alexandre Nero, it tells the story of a thief who tries to steal a car on a street in São Paulo, but ends up trapped in a trap set by the owner of the vehicle.

One day, however, she unassumingly meets Steve at the supermarket and the two start talking. On their first date, Noa is enchanted by the doctor and they start dating.
In love, she accepts the boy’s invitation to a romantic trip to an isolated house, but what seemed like a dream turns into a heavy one when she discovers the secret ingredients of the dinner that Steve prepared for her.
Smart and well written, Fresh has what it takes to deliver a good tension film.
Bonus: brutal nights
It is impossible to finish our list without mentioning brutal nights, one of the most praised horror films of the year. Directed by Zach Cregger, the film accompanies Tess (Georgina Campell), a young woman who arrives in the city of Detroit for a job interview and decides to stay in a house she rented through the Airbnb application.
It turns out that arriving at the place, late at night, she discovers that it was already occupied by an unknown man. Without having many alternatives, the young woman decides to sleep in the strange house, but soon discovers that there is much more to fear than she imagined.
With an intelligent and well-written narrative, the film conquers the viewer by building a latent tension that increases by the minute. Merit to Zach Cregger who also signs the script and participates in the cast, in the role of Everest. The team is completed by Bill Skarsgard, Justin Long, Matthew Patrick, Kate Bosworth and Sara Paxton.
