Jhon Fredy Núñez, representative to the Chamber for Citrep 5, was denounced for allegedly drunkenly beating his security scheme. File, Archive.

This Wednesday, December 28, the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation announced the opening of an investigation against Congressman Jhon Fredy Núñez for allegedly having beaten his security scheme attached to the National Protection Unit (UNP) while intoxicated.

The complaint, made by this same entity, indicated that the events occurred on December 23, the day on which, in addition to having beaten his bodyguards, he would have drunkenly driven the van that was assigned to his scheme.

The unit also stated that the representative to the House by the Special Transitory Circumscription for Peace (Citrep) 5, “not only did he put his life at risk by driving the vehicle —in that state—, but he also exposed his own wife and all the staff of the scheme.” That Friday, the congressman was accompanied by members of the public force and protection persons, “who had to endure the boorishness and excesses of the protected person,” they said.

For this reason, the Disciplinary Chamber of Instruction of the Public Ministry also asked the ONE P deliver a detailed report and other elements related to what was denounced on social networks. Added to that, he asked the state entity to present the protection protocol “and due respect for the dignity of the people who provide the protection service, who the congressman should have signed at the time of assigning your schema”.

The objective of this investigation will be to determine if Núñez Ramos committed a disciplinary offense that could result in suspensions, fines, his dismissal as a congressman and even the inability to hold state office.

Now, regarding the complaint, the UNP recalled that by having a security team, the representative had to sign an act of implementation. Said document is clear when mentioning “the prohibition of the consumption of liquor, who should drive the vehicle and how to abide by the protection protocol and due respect for the dignity of the people who offer their lives for the sake of protection.”

On this Wednesday the 28th, Núñez issued a statement in which he affirmed that with Jose Uriel Tabordaan official of his security scheme, had presented “a misunderstanding” and asserted that, contrary to what was stated by the Unit, there were no acts of violence, much less assaulted the escort.

“It is necessary to clarify before the public opinion that under NO circumstances were acts of physical violence presented directly that generated personal injuries. Violence has NEVER been a way to resolve or manage conflicts of any kind,” the representative said in the statement. By the way, he apologized to the escort assigned to the Unit and his family, “as I personally told him.”

Núñez also made a call to the public, assuring that —according to him— he has been the object of political persecution from the moment he occupied seat number 5 of the Citrep, and recalled that they have also publicized a false resignation of his. “This is the way political opponents act.”

It is worth mentioning that this has not been the only questioning that the representative has to the Chamber. In fact, his aspiration to the peace seat was marked by several doubts, among them the fact that he could have had disabilities to hold this position: he was a local director of a party that had representation in Congress (former PIN) and had been a contractor with several governorates.
