The City signs a $77 million contract for shelters

New reports this morning indicate that the city entered into a $77 million emergency contract with city hotels to house immigrant families.

According to the New York Post, The Adams administration carried out the emergency contract as a last resort to provide shelter to immigrant families.

15 hotels in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx will reserve rooms for up to 28 days under the new program, which will be available through July.

Hotels are a backup plan, in case there is no space in the shelters.

Once the 28 days are up, families will be able to go to one of the Humanitarian Emergency Response Centers to be settled elsewhere.
