The first statue of the Argentine star, Lionel Messi, as world champion after winning the Qatar 2022 World Cup, was presented this Monday in a well-known seaside resort and it became an unmissable stop for tourists and residents of the area.
The statue of the “Flea” will be exhibited until next Thursday and was made by the sculptor Víctor Coluccio.

The sculpture of the world champion team was placed in the spa 12 of Punta Mogotes in Mar del Plata. “The work was finished in the last matches of the World Cup. The third star was worked on the day after the champions came out. I always had the hope that we were going to win the cup,” said the author.
And he added: “The project began to be worked on with great responsibility. We are talking about an emblematic and global figure, where not only the resemblance but also the expression had to be captured in a work”.
“What I wanted from the beginning of the project is for people to enjoy it. Messi represents that everything is possible when you want. An inclusion must be made in that, the statue comes to show the human part. The sculpture is the first in the world and is in Mar del Plata,” said the owner, Hugo Nicoli. The statue, which represents the celebration of the captain of the Argentine National Team, is made of fiber cement and weighs approximately 100 kilos.
“The final destination will be the one that will occupy within two months, when it is located on the sidewalk of a sports complex that we are putting together on Edison and Mario Bravo avenues, with a free visit for all the people who want to get closer”, Nicoli finally clarified.
This is the first statue of world champion Messi on the planet.
