Members of the Misiones Police Homicide Department arrested a 19-year-old young man yesterday afternoon as the main suspect in the bloody murder of Emanuel Portillo, the 20-year-old young man who was found murdered with 42 stab wounds last Friday, December 30. in a sector of Azara weeds.
This is the same young man who was initially targeted by the investigations and who, although he was delayed for a couple of hours on the day of the discovery, in the search of his house, no elements were found that linked him to the crime.
Although according to the data provided by spokespersons for the case, the suspect’s arrest was achieved after the defendant sent a text message to a friend in which he would have confessed to the responsibility of the act. Given this, the recipient of the letter went to the Police and alerted what had happened.
The person involved, identified as Catriel P., was once again at the disposal of the Investigating Court IV of Apóstoles and it is not ruled out that in the next few days he will be taken to an investigative statement.
On the other hand, hours before this arrest, a significant number of neighbors, friends and relatives, together with members of different social organizations, gave their support to Emanuel’s family yesterday. And it is that five days after the shocking crime was known, the community of the aforementioned town took to the streets with posters and images of the victim to ask for Justice and the rapid clarification of the case.
The block of people who chanted for justice along various sections of the route was led by Alejandra Benítez, the victim’s mother, who accompanied the mass for several minutes until at a certain moment she had to leave the march for health reasons.

When asked who the murderer could have been, the woman stated: “I think my son went there, that morning, because they called him and he knew that person. Because if not, he wasn’t going to go, he wasn’t a person to go to a place like that just because. He took a bike from his aunt at nine in the morning and said that he was coming back. But he did not come back ”.
Alejandra commented that it was she who found her son’s body with multiple cuts, without underwear, in a weedy area of Lot 200 in the town.
He commented that this place is not very far from his house, but it is from the apartment that Emanuel rented in another part of the town.
She even maintained that at one point she felt very annoyed with the Police because when she went to report the disappearance of her family member, she did not receive the attention she expected.
Although he acknowledged that since the discovery until now the police have mobilized a lot to clarify the case.
Asked what her son was like, the interviewee recalled: “Emanuel loved orchids, cacti, he has his nursery, he loved everything that flowers were, they were his joy. It was a love of person. The only bad thing about him maybe was that people judged him because he was gay. But he was sweetheart, he didn’t have a bad meeting, I have no explanation of what happened. The police intervention for this shocking case began last Friday, December 30, when María Alejandra (38), appeared in the morning at the local police station and said that she could not locate her son for more than 24 hours, since the Thursday at 9. He also added that he had noticed him “depressed.”
Due to this, the troops mounted a search and investigations to find the whereabouts of the young man, who moved to the neighborhood area, where around 11 o’clock the first indication appeared that anticipated the worst of endings. Men’s underwear was found in the back of the María Auxiliadora neighborhood.
And from that place, about 20 meters away, in a stream with a small flow of water, the body of the young man, who did not have the lower garments, but did have a blue shirt. Members of the Scientific Police division, together with the police doctor and the authorities of the Cuatro de Apóstoles Investigating Court were present at the scene for the rigorous examinations, although no evidence of the murderer was found, nor was the weapon used.
Days later, the results of the autopsy on the young man’s body yielded chilling results. Of the 42 sharp injuries that were detected on the head, chest, and other parts of the body, six of these were penetrating and caused death.
While another advance in the investigation was achieved on Monday afternoon, during a new search operation in the area where Emanuel was found lifeless.
At about 1,100 meters, in a sector of weeds, members of the Homicide Department found Portillo’s bicycle with vehicle 29. The vehicle was missing from the moment of the event and it is believed that the victim reached a sector of Lot 200 of the aforementioned town to meet his murderer.
In addition, the investigations managed to kidnap a black backpack inside which was a butcher-type knife, with a white plastic handle and a pliers.
It also transpired that the aforementioned bag was found hidden in the trunk of a tree, 700 meters from where they found Portillo, by a local resident who was looking for fertilizer in the area.
