A new online platform called Cubabooking (in the style of the international Booking), was launched this weekend by the Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Juan Carlos García Granda, to make it easier for tourists, according to them, to reserve accommodation and excursions on the island.
According to a report from the tourism magazine, Traveltradecaribbean, Cubabooking.com is an initiative of a tourism company, based in Portugal and an office in Havana, which is dedicated exclusively to the Cuban market.
In its page website, explain that travelers can find a wide range of hotels, private homes, hostels, AirB&B and other lodging options, as well as detailed and updated information about the island’s destinations.
The platform also offers complementary services such as car rental, airport transfers, excursions and tours, and personalized experiences with Cuban tourism providers. In addition, it has customer service and a secure payment system available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What is Cubabooking and why did it emerge?
Cubabooking.com, according to this mentioned magazine, aims to “bring Cuba to the world and bring the world to Cuba.” The Cuban Ministry of Tourism, for its part, expressed on its social networks that “with the launch of Cubabooking, it is expected to increase the number of visitors to Cuba, especially from Asian destinations such as India.”
The launch of Cubabooking took place at the Gran Muthu Habana Hotel, where more than 160 travel agents, journalists, influencers and representatives of the Indian hotel chain MGM MUTHU attended.
Precisely, it is the Muthu hotels in Cuba that are most promoted on the Cubabooking website, such as Gran Muthu Imperial de Jardines del Rey, Gran Muthu Almirante de Guardalavaca, Gran Muthu Cayo Guillermo and Gran Muthu Habana, among others.
At this time, you cannot book flights, rent cars, buy packages, or see all the excursions. When you go to the “Cubabooking” page they tell you that these services will be “very soon.”
