Regarding the trip of the Moroccan delegation to Algeria to take part in CHAN-2022, Algeria is categorical. No direct Rabat-Constantine flight for Moroccans. The latter will indeed make a stopover to reach “Cirta”.

At the end of last week, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation threatened to boycott the CHAN-2022 which will take place in Algeria. And for good reason, she demanded from our country the opening of a direct flight to be able to reach Constantine from Rabat, since Royal Air Maroc is prohibited from flying over Algerian airspace.

While the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is awaiting a favorable response from Algeria, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrazak Sebgag, is closing the debate. He asserts that the affairs of sovereignty are not negotiated.

“Nobody dares to blackmail Algeria which is a sovereign country. In other words, the affairs of sovereignty cannot be negotiated…Algeria is a hospitable country which respects all its guests. They will all be entitled to a warm welcome, while respecting the specifications of CAF”. He said in an exclusive interview with the media “Dzair Tube”.

Thus, the Moroccans will indeed make a stopover to reach Constantine, the host city.

Why did Algeria call Baraki’s new stadium “Nelson Mandela”?

Besides, the name of Baraki’s new stadium has been known for about two weeks. He will officially bear the name of Nelson Mandela. The country’s top sports official explains why Algeria named the late South African president’s new “jewel”.

“The choice of name for the new Baraki stadium was made by the country’s high authorities. This is a strong message from Algeria. It is also a recognition towards the late South African president who had started his long fight in Algeria…Algeria was also the first country he had visited just after his release from prison”. he explained.

Remember that the new Nelson Mandela stadium will host the opening ceremony of CHAN-2022 on January 13.
