Once tight and once clear: 1. FC Union dominated the friendly double pack against FC Augsburg. The Irons initially beat their competitors from the Bundesliga 1-0 (0-0) in the training camp in Campoamor, Spain. Shortly thereafter, in a duel between two completely exchanged teams, there was a 4:1 (4:0) for the Berliners.

Two weeks before the season continued in the Bundesliga, striker Jordan Siebatcheu scored the winning goal in the 56th minute with a hand penalty in the first game, which was poor in highlights. Augsburg’s Davide Dell’Erba had previously blocked a cross with his elbow. FCA only came into play better in the final phase, but were unable to create any clear chances.

In the second game, which started less than half an hour after the final whistle of the first game, Augsburg had a great chance to take the lead through Lukas Petkov (10′). Union goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow made an excellent save. After that, the Berliners, who this time played with a back four instead of a back three, were clearly superior and had a clear goal before the break thanks to Sven Michel (12’/39′), Kevin Behrens (26′) and Jamie Leweling Guide.

For the clearly inferior Augsburg, Petkov (80th) was able to shorten the gap in the final phase. Curious: The referee interrupted the match before the shot on goal. The goal still counted.

Union returns to the capital from Spain on Wednesday. On the following Saturday, the Slovakian club MSK Zilina is the last test opponent. The game against TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga follows a week later. FC Augsburg continues the season a day later with the game at Borussia Dortmund. (dpa)
