According to Steam data, the number of players on Call of Duty: Warzone 2 it has been declining since the battle royale launched in November. There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the release of Call of Duty: Warzone 2, as many Call of Duty fans were disappointed by the removal of Verdansk and the introduction of Caldera to the original game.

Reaction to Call of Duty: Warzone 2 was mostly positive at first, and while the game is still generally better regarded than Caldera, it seems to be having trouble maintaining its player base.

It’s normal for video games to lose players over time, but while it’s not as big of a problem for single player games or more traditional multiplayer games, it’s a big problem for games as a service.

Games as a service are designed to keep players engaged for the long term, and this requires developers to regularly invest resources in producing new content for games.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is a game as a service, and despite new content being released for the game on a constant basis, players are losing interest in the game.

Now, the Steam version of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has been steadily losing players. In November, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 averaged 223,000 players on Steam at one point, but that number dropped 20% in December.

Since then, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 player numbers have dropped another 16% in the last 30 days. With no major game directly competing with Warzone 2, that doesn’t bode well for the future of battle royale.
