YouTube wants to compete with Twitch and facilitates access to its Partner Program for streamers

YouTube has launched a new level for its Partner Program, in order to simplify monetization for streamers and to compete with the Twitch Affiliate Program and others. In recent years, streaming on YouTube has seen a surge in popularity due to the migration of renowned content creators to this platform.

Starting June 13, 2023, YouTube will make it easier to qualify for the Partner Program. This benefits streamers by offering them a more accessible option.

These are the requirements of the new YouTube Partner Program:

  • 500 subscribers
  • 3 validated public videos
  • 3,000 hours of valid public viewing in the last year OR 3 million valid public views of shorts in the last 90 days

Those who meet these requirements will unlock the following features:

  • channel memberships;
  • super chat;
  • Super stickers;
  • The opportunity to promote your products through YouTube Shopping.

Those who meet the requirements will automatically be included in the program.without the need to go through the full application process. YouTube is rolling out changes to its Partner Program shortly after Twitch announced changes to its advertising guidelines and other streaming rules as well as other updates, drawing criticism from the community.
