New Yorkers woke up Saturday morning to snow-covered streets, with some parts of the city accumulating up to 10 inches of snow.

Initially it was expected that it would only snow an inch or two in the city, but on Saturday morning it snowed more than 20 centimeters in Coney Island, according to the National Weather Service. Some parts of Staten Island received more than 6 inches of snow, and Central Park was hit with 2 inches.

An area of ​​low pressure reached the city overnight and then moved south of the region. The storm system was stronger than expected and dropped several inches of snow in all five boroughs.

The storm moved quickly Saturday morning. By 8 a.m., most of the snow had stopped falling. Although some minor precipitation may continue to fall throughout the rest of the morning, skies will clear and afternoon high temperatures will approach 40 degrees.
