Indiana Jones has cost Harrison Ford years of life and health due to all the injuries he has had throughout the saga

The theatrical release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate marks a full stop in the story of the legendary bounty hunter. Harrison Ford, who has played the character for 40 years, says goodbye at the age of 80. And he will be 81 years old on July 13.

It could be said that 40 years playing Indiana Jones (thanks to his role as Han Solo) have given a lot. The saga has 5 films: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), The Temple of Doom (1984), The Last Crusade (1989), The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) and the Dial of Fate (2023). And it’s no exaggeration to say that some have cost Ford years of life and health.

Filming Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harrison Ford suffered an accident during the scene of the fight against the German next to the plane. He tore his ACL when the landing gear hit/ran over him (unclear) while he was fighting the mechanic. This wound was added to many other minor ones that forced him to take some time to recover.

The search for the Lost Ark brought more trouble for Harrison Ford and the film crew. Do you remember the scene of the swordsman that Indi shoots with her revolver? It was originally going to be a fight, but Ford refused due to the dysentery and the extreme exhaustion what the team felt Spielberg suggested the shot.

Harrison Fotd Injured

Later, the Temple of Doom nearly wipes out Harrison Ford, since he injured his back (spine) during the scenes in which he rides an elephant and the arrival at Panjot Palace. The specialist Vic Armstrong he had to replace him in some scenes.

Finally, Harrison Ford was not going to say goodbye to Indiana Jones without suffering a new injury. The filming of Dial of Fate cost the actor an shoulder injury which kept him unable to work for a few days. It was during one of the fights taking place in the UK. We can safely say that Ford can retire proud… and relieved.
