A 17-year-old boy who remains in custody in connection with the double shooting that occurred on the beach in Revere, Massachusetts over Memorial Day weekend is facing new charges, authorities have announced.

Massachusetts State Police detectives said they added two counts of assault and battery involving the discharge of a firearm against the 17-year-old. The minor who turned himself in to authorities last week was previously charged with firearms offenses and has been in custody since a dangerousness hearing at Chelsea District Court on Monday.

Detectives said that according to evidence, the teen fired a handgun during an altercation near one of the bathhouses on Revere Beach Boulevard. A 17-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet and a 51-year-old bystander was shot in the lower body, authorities said.

Several massive fights broke out on the beach that day. Video shows a man opening fire on a crowd in one of the shootings.
