A lawyer for Donald Trump, former president of the United States, named Alina Habba, praised her client and assured that he was the “most ethical American” she has ever met. in an interview offered to the program “Fox News Sunday” with Shannon Bream.
Habba’s words come after he learned that the former Republican president had received a new indictment from the Department of Justice (DOJ) for mishandling classified documents. On this occasion, the DOJ accused Trump of trying to delete video from security cameras at Mar-a-Lago, his private resort in Florida.
Habba assured that all video from the security cameras that was requested was delivered.
“When he (Donald Trump) gets his chance in court, and when we can get our files into it, you’ll see that every video, every security tape they requested, was delivered.Habba said on “Fox News Sunday.”
And the lawyer added:If President Trump had not wanted to deliver something, I can assure you that it would have been known. But he would never have acted that way. He (Trump) is the most ethical American I have ever met.“.
According to The Hill news portal, former President Trump was accused of trying to delete material from the Mar-a-Lago security cameras in conjunction with Carlos de Oliveira, property maintenance managerand Walt Nauta, a Trump aide, who was also accused of mishandling classified documents.
Thus, The accusation against the former Republican president will lead him to face 42 charges for the mishandling of classified documents. Prior to this indictment, Trump was facing 37 charges.
The indictment stated that Oliveira allegedly told another Mar-a-Lago employee that “the ‘boss’ (which could refer to Donald Trump) wanted the servers wiped down.”
For this, Oliveira must appear in court in Miami next Monday. The Mar-a-Lago maintenance manager was also accused of lying to investigators about his role in moving boxes of documents on the property, saying he “didn’t see anything.”
