The Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) it becomes news every December due to the flood of people from La Plata who remember to carry out the procedure at the last moment when the holidays approach, which leads to the collapse of the system. Although now you don’t see the endless queues since it is only attended by appointment, it is a complicated mission to get an appointment as soon as possible. What is the company that manages the concession in our city?

In La Plata, the verification plant is located at 19 and 519 and is managed by the company “Verauto La Plata SA” for 28 years. Like the rest of the seven concessionaires that operate in different parts of the province, the tender for which the service was awarded has been in force since 1995, expired in 2014 and his contract was systematically extended by decree every year by the governors Daniel Scioli, María Eugenia Vidal and Axel Kicillof. The last extension was signed by decree in July of this year and expires on January 31, 2023.

The president of the company is German Leandro Rebolo and its vice president is Mercedes Larrobla Mendezwhile the chief conductor is John Malcolm Greyling and the deputy director, Maria Eugenia Bercetcheas stated in the last publication made in the Official Gazette in May 2021, after the renewal of company authorities.

In addition to directing “Verauto La Plata”, Rebolo, Méndez, Greyling and Bercetche are also in charge of three companies that manage VTV in other areas of the province: “Zone 5 Concessionaire”which operates the vehicle technical verification in the region made up of Quilmes, Esteban Echeverría, Almirante Brown, Florencio Varela and Berazategui; “Argentine Vehicle Technical Verifications of Argentina SA” who is in charge of the service in the region of Luján, General Rodríguez, Baradero, San Pedro and Pergamino, among other districts, and ITV SA which has the concession in the municipalities of La Matanza and Merlo.

What will happen to the concession at the end of January? The Buenos Aires government is working on a new tender for 2023 because it seeks a comprehensive change in VTV that already began with the system of shifts assigned due to the termination of the patent a year ago.

In the decree of the last extension, some of the main guidelines that the Executive will impose were detailed, such as “shorter concession terms -in contrast to the current twenty years-, a greater number of fixed plants with coverage throughout the territory of the province of Buenos Aires, with forecasts of reserve lines due to the growth of the automotive fleet, greater competition among the providers in order to avoid the monopolization of the service and the implementation of mechanisms that allow the province to have greater control of the canon in order to protect tax interests.”
