Young Miles Socorro, aka Spider, is one of the most mysterious characters in Avatar 2. James Cameron’s film confirms his father’s identity, but not his mother’s. You have to look a little further to find out who Spider’s mother is.

Available since December 14 in theaters, Avatar: The Way of the Water is the sequel to James Cameron’s blockbuster released in 2009. It has already exceeded one billion in revenue in just two weeks. We find in the film characters known as Jake Sully become Na’vi, but we also discover new characters. Spider is one of them. From his real name Miles Socorro, Spider is a young human boy played by Jack Champion.
Spider’s father is none other than Colonel Miles Quaritch, the villain of the first Avatar killed in the battle between humans and Na’vi. Miles Quaritch returns in Avatar 2 as a Na’vi who was artificially created with his memories and personality.

Avatar Comics Reveals the Identity of Spider’s Mother
Avatar 2 teaches us that Spider was too young when humans were returned to Earth after the battle. So he stayed on Pandora, regularly escaping from the bunker with the other human scientists to spend his days in the jungle. This is how he grew up with the children of the Sully family. The Neytiri mother has not yet accepted it. Besides, Spider could become Na’vi in Avatar 3 in order to fully integrate Jake’s family.
Spider has therefore met “his father” in Avatar 2. He will even go so far as to save his life despite their differences. However, the film does not reveal any clues about the identity of his mother. In Avatar: The High Ground, readers learn that Spider’s mother was a Scorpion starship pilot for the GDR. Her name was Paz and she had a secret relationship with Colonel Miles Quaritch. This relationship was forbidden, so Paz had to hide Spider when he was born. Like the Colonel, Paz was killed in the great battle of Pandora. She was shot down by Na’vi arrows while piloting her helicopter.
