Motorcyclist Dies After Crashes into Car in Des Moines

A motorcycle and passenger vehicle collided on the east side of Des Moines Saturday night, killing the motorcyclist.

First responders arrived at the intersection of E. 38th Street and Hubbell Avenue around 9:04 p.m., according to a news release. The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old male, died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

The man was driving at a high speed westbound on Hubbell Avenue and hit the front of a car as it was turning from eastbound Hubbell Avenue to northbound E. 38th Street, the release said. Two adults and one child were in the car and were not injured.

The motorcycle was discovered to have been stolen and reported to police on June 25, according to the release. Officials are investigating the incident.

This is the 12th traffic-related fatality this year in Des Moines and the third involving a motorcycle.
