In his biography, Prince Harry reveals that the striking differences between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton could not be overlooked when they first met.

London – Not only since the Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan” and the publication of Prince Harry’s biography “Reserve” (“Spare”) should it be clear to the last royal fan that Megan Markle (41) and Kate Middleton (41) were never best friends. The desire was great for the “Fab Four”, as Prince Harry (38) himself admits in his memoirs. But apparently the wives of Harry and his older brother Prince William (40) were just too different.

“Kate: dolled up to the max”: Different styles caused discomfort

After meeting then-Suits actress Meghan Markle in the summer of 2016, Prince Harry couldn’t wait to introduce her to his brother and sister-in-law Kate. “I said I couldn’t wait for them to meet her, that I was looking forward to the four of us spending lots of time together, and I confessed for the umpteenth time that this had been my dream for a long time – me to join them with an equal partner,” Harry writes in his biography.

But as soon as Princess Kate and Duchess Meghan met for the first time, this wishful thinking faltered. Harry and Meghan had invited William and Kate to Nottingham Cottage for dinner. The evening went well, we talked about “Suits” and Wimbledon. But one discrepancy immediately caught Prince Harry’s eye: the different styles of the two women.

The only slight discord I can think of that evening was the striking difference in the women’s dress styles, which both of them seemed to notice as well. Meg: ripped jeans, barefoot. Kate: dolled up to the max. No big deal I thought.

Meghan versus Kate: relaxed American meets stiff British?

Meghan Markle had also made little positive comments about the first meeting with Kate and William in the Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan”. Meghan hinted that her hug didn’t go down well at the time. “I was a hugger, I’ve always been a hugger. I didn’t realize this was really irritating for a lot of Brits,” Meghan said in the documentary. “I guess I began to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carries over to the inside.”

At least since the extremely private revelations in “Reserve” there is now an absolute ice age between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the British royal family. So that the family quarrel does not lead to the coronation of King Charles III. (74) overshadowed, Camilla (75) is said to have convened a crisis summit. The celebrations on May 6th will show whether the waves have at least calmed down a bit. Sources used: mirror.co.uk, news.com.au
