Rumors were circulating about the arrival of a price reduction for the Model 3 and Y marketed in Europe. It’s done on January 13, with prices starting at €44,990 for Model 3 and €46,990 for Model Y before the €5,000 bonus.

After another price drop in early January in China on Model 3 and Y, rumors had intensified about price changes also being applied to Europe. Tesla just updated this Friday, January 13 its online configurator. Good or bad luck, you be the judge, but the new prices for Model 3 and Model Y are here and they should appeal, especially to those aiming for Tesla’s entry-level models.

By going to €44,990 for Model 3 and €46,990 for Model Y respectively, the two rear-wheel-drive models become eligible for the €5,000 bonus again if you limit yourself on the options. This even gives the Tesla Model 3 accessible from €39,990 (bonus deducted), i.e. €13,500 difference with the price available on January 12.

The new 2023 prices for the different versions of Model 3 and Model Y

All versions of the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y will receive new prices on January 13, 2023. The price reductions are not limited to entry-level models, the Long Autonomy and Performance versions are also affected with significant discounts.

For the Model 3 sedan:

Model 3 Old price New price Reduction of … discount percentage
Propulsion €53,490 €44,990 – €8,500 16%
Great Autonomy €62,490 €52,990 – €9,500 15.5%
Performance 66490 € €59,990 – €6,500 10%

The drop in price is especially visible for the entry-level version with up to -€13,500 by adding the bonus deduction, or -€8,500 if you want a model with several options. The Long Autonomy version is not to be outdone with a reduction in its price of around 15.5%. The reduction is less on the Performance version, but it still grants 10% discount, or €6,500 less on its price.

For the Model Y SUV:

Model Y Old price New price Reduction of … discount percentage
Propulsion €49,990 €46,990 – €3,000 6%
Great Autonomy €64,990 €53,990 – €11,000 17%
Performance €69,990 €63,990 – €6,000 9%

The Model Y propulsion made a sensational debut at the start of the 2022 school year with a particularly low price compared to the rest of the range, it is normal that its price is the one that drops the least on this price update. On the other hand, the Model Y Grande Autonomie with a price reduction of €11,000 once again becomes quite attractive from the point of view of the quality/price ratio.

Eligibility for the maximum bonus found for Model 3 and Model Y

The prices indicated above are mentioned excluding the deduction of any ecological bonus. This one is again available on Model 3 and Model Y in their standard version:

  • Model 3 propulsion: €39,990 with the €5,000 bonus deducted
  • Model Y propulsion: €41,990 with the €5,000 bonus deducted

Model Y cannot be equipped with options to benefit from the bonus. For this price, it will necessarily be a white or black model, with black interior and standard rims. The Model 3 allows him to add an option at less than €2,000 to remain within the eligibility criteria for the bonus.

As of January 1, 2023, no Tesla model could benefit from a state bonus to help with the purchase of an electric car. By lowering its prices below €47,000, excluding options, rear-wheel-drive models can again benefit from the maximum bonus. A boost that will be appreciated by some, but which should make those who have already ordered their Tesla grumble.

A new standard color to offer something other than white

Pearly White Multilayer and Solid Black are the two free alternatives for Model 3 and Y. Until now, only white was a standard color, at no additional cost, for the various Tesla models. For Model 3 and Model Y, Tesla has also just passed the “solid black” body color as standard.

The metallic shades of Night Grey, Ultramarine Blue and Multilayer Red remain options, the price of which varies from €1,600 to €2,000. The new Quicksilver Gray and Red Midnight Cherry Red tints, available on Model Y Long Autonomy and Performance, also keep their specific price, without a price reduction.

Order books to fill

Tesla has accustomed us to having often significant variations in its prices, both up and down. The new rates of January 13, 2023 are the perfect example. They also reflect the state of the brand’s order books, which seem to be struggling to sell all of its production capacity.

The deadlines are currently much shorter, less than 2 months to obtain a Model 3 when it took almost a year going back a few months in 2022.

How long will these new rates last? Impossible to attempt to answer this question. We can imagine that as soon as the brand has filled its order books again, prices could start rising again. Do not delay if these models at these prices interest you.
