Vera Farmiga’s Patrick Wilson’s paranormal duo have hunted demons in three successful Conjuring films, but the demon hunt may soon be over if an interview with filmmaker James Wan is to be believed. According to Collider the upcoming fourth film could also be the last:

“Yeah, we are working on it right now. With the Conjuring films, we are very precious about [them]. And so we kind of want to just take our time to make sure we get it right and to make sure the emotion of the Warren stories that we want to tell, and moving into, and potentially wrapping up, we just want to make sure that it’s the right thing, the right story that we’re telling.”

Wan clarified that you never know if this will be the end and therefore invest in making the film as good as possible. The Conjuring 4 doesn’t yet have a director and the story appears to still be in development, but we do know that both Wilson and Farmiga have been confirmed to return to their roles. Until we know more about The Conjuring sequel, you can instead look forward to The Nun 2, which takes place in the same universe and premieres in September. Want to see a fourth Conjuring movie?

It always gets a little creepy when the end approaches..
